A few corrections, tweaks, and an addition.

Versions of the document with the filename "Ancient Red Wyrm-2024-09-30" include the following updates:

  • Mainly fairly minor updates, either to fix small mistakes or update wordings slightly. This is mostly to reflect changes made to the Winterwold game.
  • Included the Adept class. This was originally excluded to keep the document closer to B/X and similar editions. GMs can choose to exclude it in their games for a more "classic" feel. But I generally feel it's better to include, since it represents the third type of power locus I view as normal for supernaturally powerful characters in speculative fiction:
    • Cleric (Warlocks, Druids, etc.) - Power comes from relationship with an external being.
    • Mage (Wizards, Artificers, etc.) - Power comes from mechanistic knowledge of things in the world.
    • Adept (Sorcerers, Monks, Psionists, etc.) - Power comes from within oneself.
  • The only other major addition was an Appendix B suggesting patrons and spirits to include in the setting. This was again based on those from Winterwold. It is only intended as a suggestion for groups who aren't playing with a different setting which already has different spiritual entities (or lacks them altogether).
